Gianbattista’s story: a passion beyond time

In telling the story of the great Rossoneri family, we realize more and more how precious it is to know and share the stories of our supporters who are no longer with us: stories of passion, of belonging, of people who lived Milan as part of their life and identity.

Among these stories is that of Gianbattista Volpi, who sadly left his family and all those who loved him on October 13.

Gianbattista was a man passionate about life, and even more so an authentic Milanista, endlessly in love with his great idol: captain Franco Baresi. A sincere passion, lived with pride and passed on to anyone close to him.

His bond with the Rossoneri colors was so strong that in 1979 he founded one of the first Milan Clubs dedicated precisely to Franco Baresi. A gesture that speaks of dedication, but also of community: over time, the Milan Club became a place to come together, share emotions, celebrate victories and support one another through defeats.

The photos and memories portraying him next to the Captain are not just images, but living testimonies of a visceral and genuine sporting faith.

“In a world in constant evolution, Gianbattista’s story reminds us of the value of those who live their love for football with sincerity and dedication.”

It is thanks to supporters like him that Milan is not just a team, but a great community made of memory, bonds, and heart.

His story remains an example and an invitation: to continue safeguarding true passions and passing on what unites different generations under one single Rossoneri banner.

To honor Gianbattista, his family made a donation in his memory to guarantee the right to sport for at-risk youth as part of Fondazione Milan’s Sport for Change project.
