Yegor saves the goal of his life! | Sport for Change

He escaped the war and managed to realise his dream as a goalkeeper.

Yegor is a 10-year-old Ukrainian boy who has been playing football since he was 7.

In 2019, he joined the Dynamo Kyiv Academy, where he always stood out both for his height and for his saves and interventions, becoming an increasingly complete and reliable goalkeeper.

The war that broke out in Ukraine in February 2022 interrupted his dream and he and his family fled to Italy.

His mother Yana, in May, with the intention of restoring some normality to her son’s life, wrote an e-mail to the Football Goalkeepers’ Academy in Pero, in the province of Milan, asking to have her son participate in the goalkeepers’ campus, held in the summer, to give him the opportunity to continue to develop his football skills and to compare and play with his peers in pursuit of his dream.

Fondazione Milan, in addition to the first aid operations in Ukraine, supported together with AC Milan and Andriy Shevchenko, decided to provide Yegor’s enrolment in the summer camp.

Thus, Yegor was able to take part in the Milan Academy Junior Goalkeeper Camp held in Pero (MI) last June, organised under licence by the Football Goalkeeper Academy.

The week of the Camp was very important and exciting for Yegor, and his performance was excellent, so much so that he was invited to participate in training with the Milan youth sector starting last October.

Fondazione Milan has always been committed to supporting the dreams of children in difficult situations like Yegor’s: help us build the future of many young people through our programmes.
